They say you can’t always lose. They lie.

Mayte Forta is a nerd. Orphaned at fourteen, she is well acquainted with loss. She lost her grandmother to never-ending grief and lost touch with her two best friends years ago as they all moved on with their adult lives. While she misses them, things seem to improve when she moves from her native Barcelona to Madrid for an exciting new job. It doesn’t last.

When Mayte loses that job, she is devastated, but Saul Bofill, her replacement, opens the door to romance, giving her trampled self-confidence a boost. Then her catty but gorgeous ex-boss sets her sights on him, and a lifetime of loss and loneliness finally catches up with Mayte. Writing in her journal is no longer enough and she reaches out to her friends for help.

Can Mayte restore her faith in herself before she slides into despair?

About Sora

Sora James writes compelling contemporary love stories in hopes that she will not be the only one missing her metro stop because she couldn’t put the darn book down in time.

After spending most of her early life on the east coast of the U.S., she left her nursing career to live in Catalonia, Spain (yes, for love!). Years later, she had gained a new culture, a language, a tight circle of friends, and a deeper understanding of the geography of the heart.

The Dreamer series, takes place mainly in Tarragona, where Sora lived, a mix of the modern and the medieval between the Mediterranean Sea and the Prades Mountains. These days, when she isn’t writing, Sora can be found having tapas around Madrid.

Jonathan can’t stop thinking about Laia. She’s dating his brother.

Jonathan Pierce wears guilt like a shirt. At nineteen, he joined the army to escape an abusive father, leaving his little brother Andy behind. After losing the young Afghan woman he wanted to marry in an air strike, he returns home, broken but determined to help Andy with his construction company. When he meets the new customer, Laia, Jonathan is thrust into a whirlwind of emotions he thought he’d buried. But he will not hurt his brother again.

Laia Matos never quite recovered from being left standing at the altar soon after her mother’s death. Visiting her inherited property, she sees a chance at a new beginning when she starts dating Andy Pierce, the kind, hunky owner of the construction company hired to refurbish the house. But when she meets his brother, Jonathan, she realizes her life will never be complete without him.

Can Laia and Jonathan put aside their painful pasts and embrace love?

Laia’s House is a steamy, small-town love story filled with raw emotions. This Sora James novella will pull you in for an emotional ride to remember.
